Students will learn the designer's own molecule stitch, and will use this stitch to weave Swarovski crystals and Japanese seed beads together to mimic each carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen atom of the GABA molecule, as well as all the bonds between those atoms. The class will include a basic, accessible chemistry lesson from a Ph.D. biochemist, and will show how to use the molecule stitch to explore the chemical structures of many other beaded molecules.
Prerequisites: Students should be comfortable working with size 15° seed beads.
